LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOHN H. ROOF

Know ye therefore that I, John H. Roof, of Bloomfield township, Knox County and State of Ohio, being in health, sound mind and memory, do make this, my last Will and Testament, revoking all others to this one alone and follows:

1st: It is my will that all my just debts be paid.

2nd: It is my will that my funeral expenses and the expense of my last sickness likewise be fully paid.

3rd: It is my will that all my real estate, together with my personal property should be paid to my beloved wife, Sarah Roof, with all the priviledges thereto belonging, during her natural lifetime; now know ye that the above I have willed and bequeathed as aforesaid in my third item.

4th: After the death of my wife Sarah Roof it is my will that all the property both real and personal which should remain, shall be sold for cash, and divided amongst my lawful heirs as follows: first, that the last sickness and burial expenses of my wife Sarah Roof be fully paid, and then as follows, to wit.: it is my will that the avails aforesaid of section no. 4 shall be equally divided with my daughters, Mary Roof, Ann Roof, Elizabeth Roof, Katharine Roof and my son, John M. Roof, who are my lawful heirs, and an additional thirty dollars to my daughter Elizabeth is each share should be an amount to fifty dollars to be paid to them separately by my executrix. It is my will and I do appoint my daughters Mary Roof and Ann Roof to be my executrixes with full power to act as such.

As witness my hand and seal this 30th day of July in the year of our Lord, one thousand and eight hundred and thirty four.
