John Laughrey Will

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOHN LAUGHREY

Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, I, John Laughrey, of Knox county, state of Ohio, being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this, my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:

First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Ann Laughrey, five acres of land to take in the dwelling house, barn and orchard, together with all my personal estate, goods and chattel of what kind and nature soever, I give and bequeath the same to my said beloved wife, Ann Laughrey, during her natural life and to dispose of them as she sees cause until her decease.

I have bound myself to make James Laughrey and George Laughrey, my two sons, a deed for seventy-five acres of land, lying on the north east side of the place which I allow is their quota of my estate.

I further give and devise to my two sons, John Laughrey and Charles Laughrey, their heirs and assigns, that part whereon my son John and myself now live, containing ninety acres situate in Knox county to be equally divided between them.

I do hereby allow the above named John Laughrey and Charles Laughrey to pay my two sons William Laughrey and Edward Laughrey the sum of eighty dollars to each of them to be paind in merchantable trade, three years after my decease.

I do hereby appoint my two sons, Edward Laughrey and John Laughrey the sole executors of this, my last will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand and eight hundred and twenty-three.

John Laughrey (signed and sealed)

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named John Laughrey to be his last Will and Testament, in presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in presence of the testator.
