3 fulling mills, 20 tanneries, 6 distilleries, 1 brewery, 1 pottery, 4 flouring mills, 33 grist
mills, 57 saw mills, 29 oil mills, 3 printing offices, 3 weekly newspapers. Capital in
manufactures $232,925.
Knox county has 1 college with 130 students, 2 academies with 57 students, 162 schools with
6,097 scholars.
